Construction projects can bring uncertainty and anxiousness. At Cutting Edge Countertops, our goal is for you to feel comfortable from start to finish, which is why we developed the following guide on what to expect during this process. We look forward to bringing your vision to life!

Schedule Appointment; Bring Measurements

If you are thinking about new countertops, your first step is to begin planning. Start by browsing our Live Inventory for inspiration. Bring rough measurements of your current tops or cabinet drawings to help estimate your square footage. Call to schedule an appointment—and don’t forget your measurements and design ideas like cabinet finishes, paint swatches, or flooring samples.

Determine Project Details
During your visit, our expert team will help guide you through choosing the perfect countertop to fit your lifestyle and design preferences. We’ll work with you to determine your project details including the overall design intent; your preferred countertop material type, color and finish; desired edge profile, backsplash preferences and, if needed, sinks and overhang supports. As an additional paid service, Cutting Edge Countertops also can tear out and dispose of your existing countertops, as well as provide plumbing services to make the installation process easy. Once all the project details are determined, we will provide you with an estimate based on your choices.

All Decisions Determined; Cabinets/Appliances/Plumbing Fixtures Onsite/Ordered
Upon review of your estimate and once you are ready to move forward, we will secure a deposit. At this time, your cabinets/appliances/plumbing fixtures should be onsite or ordered so they are available when we template your project. We will schedule both your template and install dates, so you can plan for other subcontractors to reduce overall project timeframes. Once your template date is scheduled, it is important to prepare by clearing off all items from your existing countertop surfaces before our Measure Technician arrives, and having all components on-hand that require a cutout such as sinks, faucets, soap dispensers and slide-in ranges and cooktops. By this point, all decisions regarding your project should be determined.

Decision Makers Present During Measure; Design Intent Finalized

The day we template your project is the most important day – and it is critical for the primary decision makers to be present during the duration of the measure (please plan for approximately one to two hours onsite, depending on the size of your project). We will take laser measurements to electronically map your space to ensure an accurate fit of your new countertops. Then, we’ll review all design details with you to verify and finalize your order. Your approval will lock-in the design intent, and at this point design changes are discouraged as the project measurements are electronically submitted for pre-production and changes could delay your installation date.

Pre-Production

Shop Drawing Developed

Cutting Edge Countertops develops a shop drawing from the laser measurements to use during the fabrication of your new countertops. At this time, your estimate is adjusted based on final dimensions and details, and we will process payment if a balance is due. This is when your material will be secured from inventory or ordered if not in stock. If you choose an optional digital layout to see how the veining and seams will look before they are fabricated and installed, this will be provided for your review and approval.

Material Staged and Precision Cut
We have one of the most advanced and efficient countertop manufacturing facilities in the country. We start off by staging your material and then use precision-cutting technology to ensure straight and crisp edgework, accurate cutouts for a superior fit and finish; and have an automated milling process that produces the best seams. Our industry-leading craftsmen and machine operators complete your countertops. Your entire project is quality inspected before it is loaded for installation.

New Countertops Installed; Review Requested
We will tear out and dispose of your existing countertops if you choose this service. Otherwise, we will install your new countertops and transform your space by bringing your vision to life. Once your tops are installed, we clean-up the space and share care and maintenance tips so you feel comfortable in protecting your investment for years to come.
